Can I love my body as it is? (Catch a preview of my new song, Heavenly Body)

I'd like to introduce you to "Heavenly Body"! It's a song for and about the wonderful Emily Braden who is one of my close friends and an amazing singer in NYC. Emily is also a big-hearted advocate for many marginalized persons and that includes those who identify as fat-bodied. She is a beautiful force of nature to behold and is an inspiration for me to love my body as it is. In the introductory video below, I talk a little bit about what inspired the song and how Emily's example has started me on a journey of being more intentional about loving my body and I know there are so many others who are equally inspired by her. There's a clip of the song at the end of the video, so stick around and give it a listen. I sincerely hope you enjoy. Love to y'all and your heavenly bodies

Fun additional note:  This song inspired writer Heidi Barr to write a poem about that delicious experience of self-love and appreciation:

Honey & Light

Let a gentle tide of acceptance
wash over you like a golden
cascade of honey and light,

coating curve of hip, softness of belly
lines of life etched into skin:
a remembrance of miracles.

Humming a lover’s lullaby -
a longing fulfilled, beautiful
wholeness finally embraced.
